Jesus is coming soon. This is a time for more unity in Christ, for an openness to the Holy Spirit as never before, for diligent use of our spiritual gifts, and for a more profound experience with our resurrected Lord. It is time for a genuine Christian ministry, engagement in stewardship and mission, spiritual warfare against false teachings, and growth in grace, love and fellowship. This is a time to hold fast and be faithful to the message of the Cross, and Paul’s letters to the Corinthians teach us to do just that.

Sermon Title: “An Equal Reward”

Scripture: Matthew 20:8-16: When evening came, the owner of the vineyard told his foreman, ‘Call the workers and give them their pay, starting with the last and ending with the first.’ When those who were hired about five came, they each received one denarius. So when the first ones came, they assumed they would get more, but they also received a denarius each… He replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I’m doing you no wrong. Didn’t you agree with me on a denarius? Take what’s yours and go. I want to give this last man the same as I gave you. Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my business? Are you jealous because I’m generous?’ “So the last will be first, and the first last.”

Advent Worship Collective!

Music: a phenomenal gift from God! It impacts positively our capacity to learn, remember, regulate our stress and elevate our positive hormones.

“Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things;” Psalm 98:1

The word ‘sing’ is mentioned over 400 times in the scriptures with 50 direct commands to sing.

Brain and Cognitive Benefits

Neuroplasticity: Musical training alters brain structure over time, increasing grey and white matter density and enlarging areas like the corpus callosum and cerebellum, according to research published in the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
Memory and Recall: Rhythm and melodies create strong emotional tags that help the brain store and retrieve memories, a benefit supported by insights from Harvard Health Publishing.
Cognitive Function: Structured instrument lessons enhance language-based reasoning, spatial-temporal skills, and working memory.

Mental Health and Stress Reduction

Cortisol Reduction: Listening to calm or preferred music lowers the body’s primary stress hormone (cortisol) and regulates heart rate and blood pressure.

Adventurer Club

Update & Induction Ceremony: Our club has gotten off to a great start this year. We wanted to let our church families know that our next meeting will be our club’s induction ceremony. We would love to have our church family members join us for this special service to support our Adventurers and their families. The service will be on Saturday, October 17 at 3:00 pm at the Palouse Hills Christian School. Light refreshments will be provided following the service.

Operation Christmas Child: Our club will also be participating in Operation Christmas Child this year. We will be filling the boxes at our meeting on November 7. We are asking our church family members to help us by either donating items we can pack into the shoeboxes or by donating money to help cover the shipping costs. Each box costs $10 to ship, and our goal is to send 30 boxes.

Gift Ideas: Combs, hair clips, washcloths, fun bandages, eating utensils, flashlights, sunglasses, flip-flops, beanies, Play-Doh, puzzles, picture books, stickers, and small toys. You can visit the Operation Christmas Child website for additional gift ideas and guidelines.

November 14 at 3:30 – SINGING BANDS: The Pullman Church congregation is invited to support the singing bands organized by the HealthMotivate Care medical director. Joining in this regular event will provide a feeling of community to the residents of nursing home facilities in Moscow and also a sense of shared community for those leading and sharing the joy of music. There are two locations on the second Sabbath of each month: Paradise Creek of Cascadia (640 N Eisenhower St) at 3:30 and Aspen Park of Cascadia (420 Rowe St) at 4:30.
